When she graduated in 1992 Amanda Bossard began her study of marine biology in Anchorage from Alaska Pacific University. Bossard started her profession as a commercial fish worker in 1999. Bossard began working with the ship F/V Sunset an a65' halibut-schooner and was later converted into a salmon tender in the name of Murat Aritan, who had been working in commercial fishing since 1993. Bossard is now married to Aritan and the couple has come together to prove their rights to the industry. They both believe in conservation as well as profiting from renewable resources in the industry of seafood. Otolith is an independent wholesale distributor of seafood which was founded by a woman in Philadelphia in 2007, by a now-mother of two young children: Bella age 3 and Andre age 1.
